The match would be exceedingly one-sided from the kick off. In the third minute of play, 8th grade midfielder Rachel Harris would find senior forward Becca MacNeill for the game-winner. The second Titan goal would come off the boot of senior midfielder Kelsey Givan. Senior Angie Smith would head a the pass to MacNeill who found Givan. Four minutes later, MacNeill took a shot that was saved, but Smith cleaned up the rebound for the 3-0 lead. In the 17th minute, Smith returned the favor to MacNeill. Four minutes later, Givan scored her second of the night off MacNeill's pass behind the defense. In the 25th minute, senior midfielder Melissa Myers spotted MacNeill for the hat trick. Givan scored her third goal of the half off a cross by freshman Sloan Bancroft and a feed by MacNeill. The halftime score was 7-0. With a challenge to work harder and stay focused, the Lady Titans scored three more goals in the first four minutes of the second half to end their night. MacNeill netted her fourth (20th overall) off a chip across the box by Givan. Givan would find Myers less than a minute later for her first. Bancroft centered a great pass that was flicked in by Smith for her 20th of the season. The Titan s concluded the scoring in the 64th minute when freshman Rachel Burgess crossed a pass to 7th grader Mary-Ashton Lembo for her 6th goal of the season. The Titan defense would permit the Confederates only few chances into their territory. Sophomore keeper CJ Winship would make two saves in the match for her 10th shutout of the year. The Lady Titans, 18-3-1, return to action Saturday in the North State semi-finals. |
